Biography

Adit Abhey Poonia is an architect and a graduate of furniture design from Central Saint Martins, London.

His first collection, titled Vestige, is a series of sculptural floor and table lamps that explores memory, material, and meaning through hand-built light forms. Inspired by bamboo scaffoldings and tazias—temporary ritual structures from India—these pieces reinterpret traditional craft techniques using bamboo, cotton twine, and paper.

The lamps reveal their skeletal frames through shadows and translucency, where light traces the joints and clings to surfaces.

Rooted in an interest in how objects gather significance through use, his work reflects on impermanence, resourcefulness, and care in making. Each piece is handmade using traditional methods, allowing intuitive gestures and subtle variations to shape the final form. These idiosyncrasies—unrepeatable and personal—imbue the pieces with a quiet vitality.

Here, perfection is not mechanical precision, but presence: the rhythm of the maker’s hand echoed in every part.
